Norfolk Pine
Norfolk Pine was introduced to the Hawaiian islands originally by Captain Cook. The tree is endemic to Norfolk Island, a small island in the Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and New Caledonia. Cook noted the presence of large forests of tall, straight trees that appeared to be suitable for use as masts and yards for sailing ships.
It is a slow growing tree, reaching a height of 160–210 ft. Its trunk has straight vertical and symmetrical branches. Norfolk Pine is light brown, with red or yellow variations. Norfolk Pine is a soft wood, making it easy to work with.
