Koa Truck by Dick Willson 3″x 5.75″x 11.5″ $200

Koa Truck by Dick Willson 3″x 5.75″x 11.5″ $200

This  koa truck was made of Hawaiian Koa wood by local artist Dick Wilson on Oahu. It is sanded to a glassy smooth finish. There is the choice between a darker and lighter truck as seen in the photos.

Acacia koa is a species of flowering tree in the pea family, Fabaceae. It is endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. The highest populations are on Hawaiʻi, Maui and Oʻahu. Its name in the Hawaiian language, koa, also means brave, bold, fearless, or warrior.

Reforestation efforts are ongoing on the Big Island and on Maui, to recover the species from the devastation caused by clearcutting for ranching and more recently, invasive forest ungulates.

Though we update regulary, since this box is on display in the gallery, it can sell at any time.  It would be helpful if you would please call or email us to confirm that it’s still available. If this truck has sold, we’ll be happy to email you photos of other work by this or any artisan as it becomes available.

Dick uses woods from the Hawaiian Islands, such as Koa, Milo, Kou, and Mango. Please keep your truck out of direct sun and intense heat as it can dry the wood unevenly.  Each piece created by Dick is sequentially numbered. We hope you enjoy his outstanding creations!
