Update July 29 2017:
This Sunday, July 30th at 5 pm we will close our doors at Ward Warehouse after 27 wonderful years.
We are planning to open our new location at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki, right next door to Kai Coffee, early in August.
Mom and I opened in 1990 to celebrate the creativity and beauty of Hawaii’s artists with people from here and the rest of the world. We’re looking forward to continuing to share the same beauty and aloha spirit in our new home. A heartfelt mahalo for being on this journey with us.
Our address, 2424 Kalakaua Ave #128, will be updated here next week.
Aloha no from our ohana!
Every day Nohea Gallery celebrates the arts and artists of Hawaii. The artists and craftspeople we work with are committed to giving their best.
We are a small family business and a large ohana of artists, our crew of many years, and collectors and givers of quality crafts and local art. Since 1990, local art and fine crafts and the people who make them have been our passion and our community.
I was born here and grew up in the most beautiful valley in the world. My Grandmother, Mom’s Mom, was a gifted painter whose plain aire oil paintings of Oahu are some of our most treasured possessions. Verdella was an accomplished watercolorist and oil painter, and she loved having people over to visit more than anything. We think of her every day when we enjoy the art and people that make this place special. My Father’s Mother, Nadine Baron, worked at Bishop Museum Press and helped type the Pukui Elbert Hawaiian Dictionary. She taught me to love Hawai’i.
We think they would both be very happy to see everyone enjoying art and their neighbors and friends at Nohea Gallery!
We have been were honored to receive on behalf of the artists and our team the Kahili Award, the Hawaii Visitor and Convention Bureau “Keep it Hawaii” award, the Honolulu Magazine ‘People’s Choice’ award, and others. All of that would be nothing without our loyal fans and customers. Without you, this wouldn’t be any fun at all, so thank you for making a place in your life for made in Hawaii art, crafts and artists.
We feel grateful to be a part of this community, and welcome you to it. Aloha no.
